kiwi
This
is the fruit of the Actinidia plant. Piedmont with its production of 500.000
quintals is the third most important kiwi producer in Italy. Production is mainly
concentrated on the highplateaux of the province of Cuneo, while among the other
provinces, only Vercelli has a certain importance. The kiwi has a very high
vitamin C content (more than either strawberries or citrus fruits). This vitamin
is an important bioregulator of our body's fundamental functions, a barrier
against infectious and viral diseases. The high energy value and fibre and sugar
content make this excellet way to take the edge of your appetite, a valid energy
boost and an excellent intestinal regulator

peach
One of the most sought after qualities
in a peach is color. That of the Piedmontese peaches which grow on the alluvial
terrains just below the foothills of the Alps are especially attractive. Peaches
are found on the south eastern plains of Piedmont up to an altitude of 500 meters
above sea level. Bath yellow and white peaches from Piedmont are found on the
market from mid July to the end of September. In the Italian calendar, they
are therefore considered as late.

pear
pears
are cultivated in the provinces of Alessandria, Cuneo, Torino. Beside the ancient
varieties to be cooked, typical of Piedmont, such as Madernassa and Martin Sec,
still cultivated in a few smaller areas, the most "recent" varieties like William,
Conference, Abate Fétel, Decana del Comizio and Kaiser are also widespread.
Eat them fresh or cooked, pears have always been enjoyed even by the most exacting
consumers thanks to their dietetic health properties. The limited amount of
calories and the richness in potassium make pears an exquisite fuel for sportsmen
or dynamic people.

plum
The plum,
a native of Asia Minor, began to acclimatise itself in Europe from around the
year 1000. In Piedmont these are cultivated industrially in a limited number
of particulary suitable areas in the hills of the province of Cuneo. It is also
grown in orchards throughout the region, mainly because of its undoubted pharmacological
properties. The plum has depurative and laxative qualities, stimulating the
biliary and diuretic flow. It is thus one of the healthiest fruits modern man
can eat. Equally sweet whether eaten fresh or dry, plums are also rich in potassium
and calcium.
